• Agricultural Safety and Health: The Core Course

    This course, offered by the Great Plains Center for Agricultural Health, provides the information and skills needed to enable safety and health professionals to anticipate, recognize, and prevent occupational illnesses and injuries among members of the agricultural community. The course is appropriate for safety and health managers, health care providers, public health practitioners, veterinarians, and anyone interested in the unique safety and health needs of rural agricultural communities.

    The Agricultural Safety and Health Core Course has been the national model of effective agricultural safety and health education for a decade. Expert instruction provided by Board Certified Physician and Veterinarian, Certified Industrial Hygienist, Certified Safety Professional, and Certified Professional Ergonomist. Continuing education credits are available for physicians, nurses, and EMS personnel.

    This National Institute for Occupational Safety and Health (NIOSH)-approved course is designed to provide a comprehensive theoretical framework combined with practical training necessary to conduct spirometry testing and screening for workers. This course is intended for nurses, medical assistants, and other health care professionals who are responsible for conducting spirometry in the workplace or clinic settings. Nurse CEUs will be available for this course.

  • Occupational Hearing Conservationist Certification Course

    This two and one‐half day workshop is designed to familiarize participants with all facets of occupational hearing conservation and prepare them as audiometric technicians. Upon completion, a certificate will be awarded which documents their training. At the end of the course, students will take the exam for certification as an Occupational Hearing Conservationist by the Council for Accreditation in Occupational Hearing Conservation (CAOHC).

This year's topics will include laser burn treatment, post acute care after catastrophic injury, release of information compliance in workers' compensation, low back injuries, and the role of physical therapists in the evaluation, management, and defense of workers' compensation claims.
