A recent article from the University of Iowa College of Public Health outlines the important role of NIOSH-funded centers in supporting workplace safety. The Heartland Center is one of three centers housed within the College of Public Health. Other centers within the college are the Great Plains Center for Agricultural Health and the Healthier Workforce Center of the Midwest.
The Heartland Center is one of 18 NIOSH Education and Research Centers throughout the country. Serving Federal Region VII (Iowa, Kansas, Missouri, and Nebraska), the Heartland Center’s mission is to help reduce injuries, illnesses, and fatalities of workers by expanding and strengthening the occupational health and safety workforce with well-trained practitioners and well-informed professionals.
