April 27, 2016—The Heartland Center is proud to announce that Maya Ramaswamy, an Occupational and Environmental Health PhD student and trainee in the ergonomics training program, has been awarded a Boren Fellowship to study in India during the 2016-17 academic year. Maya will study Tamil at VIT University in Tamil Nadu, India. Maya will also be continuing her research aimed at reducing the burden of occupational health problems (particularly musculoskeletal outcomes) among tea plantation workers in rural India.
Maya had previously traveled to Tamil Nadu with her fellow PhD student and Heartland Center trainee Josie Rudolphi.
