Occupational Safety
I am from Des Moines. I hold bachelor’s degrees in Industrial Technology with a focus on manufacturing and Agricultural Systems Technology with a focus on power systems as well as a Certificate in Occupational Safety, all from Iowa State University. I am pursuing a dual M.S. degree in Industrial & Agricultural Technology with a focus on Safety and Health as well as an M.S. degree in Human-Computer Interaction with a focus on Virtual Training. While in school, I was employed as part of Iowa State’s Radiation Safety Group (RSG) and later as a safety consultant for the City of Des Moines and the City of Ames involving investigative, reporting, and preventive measures. Currently through Mercy College, I work as an Instructor of Basic Life Support. My research interests play into the use of newer technology such as virtual reality to better train those in industry more effectively then lecture-based training as well as making training more “fun and memorable.”
